Three congressmen and D'Esposito represent districts that President Joe Biden won in the 2020 elections, making them priorities for Democrats.

In New York, a Democratic-leaning state, there are about half a dozen tight House elections, making the state a key battleground in the fight for control of the chamber. Democrats are looking to flip two Long Island districts: the 1st District in Suffolk County and the 4th District in Nassau County.

In the 2020 presidential election, approximately 64% of registered voters participated. In 2022, 26% of the total votes were cast before Election Day.

In the 4th District, Republican Anthony D'Esposito faces Democratic candidate Laura Gillen. Three other Republican newcomers are competing in races further north: Mike Lawler, Marc Molinaro, and Brandon Williams.

In New York, voters will decide on ballot measures related to abortion, being one of the 10 states where decisions will be made on November 5.

Democratic Representative Pat Ryan is also in a competitive race. Former Republican President Donald Trump and Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris are competing for New York's 28 Electoral College votes.

In the state, all Senate and Assembly seats are up for election, and voters will decide on a ballot measure called the "Equal Rights Amendment."

Democratic Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is seeking a third full term, and in the state Assembly, Democrats hold a strong majority.

The state of New York has not voted for a Republican presidential candidate since Ronald Reagan in the 1980s. In the 1st district, Republican Representative Nick LaLota faces Democrat John Avlon.
